A TRIP TO PALANI HILLS…….

Devotional trip

At the outset let me make it clear that this blog is intended as a help for those who are planning a trip. It takes you over the outline of my trip but doesn’t delve into the details of the trip itself – hope you find it useful.

Budget: 5000/-

Our  family members were gathering together for a family function,  after we planned to visit Palani Murugan temple after we did some arrangements with lot of fun and joy with our cousin gang.

By the early morning at 3:00Am we started our journey by doing some poojas at the home after packing some snacks ,water bottles , pooja item like coconut etc., we started our journey with full of devotional feel and listening devotional songs.

At 5:00Am we took a tea break in erode and purchased puja items .We reached at 6:15Am and started to climb the Palani Hills.

Palani Murugan Temple is located on top of the Palani Hills in Tamil Nadu, South India. The idol of Palani Andavar is said to have been made of Navapashanam ( a combination of Veeram, Pooram, Rasam, Jathilingam, Kandagam, Gauri Pasanam, Vellai Pasanam, Mridharsingh, Silasat), by a siddhar called Bhogar. He is considered as one of the 18 siddhars born in the world.

A symbolic pilgrimage awaits those who tread the hallowed grounds of Palani. The Elephant Path, a staircase of 659 steps, represents the trials and tribulations of life, offering a metaphorical ascent toward spiritual enlightenment. Yet, the temple embraces modernity without compromising its sanctity, providing alternative routes such as a winch or rope car rides for pilgrims seeking accessibility.

We climbed Palani hills at 7:40Am we reached top of the temple , the The temple is open from 6.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. On festival days the temple opens at 4.30 a.m. There are six poojas performed in the temple, namely, the Vilaa pooja at 6.30 a.m., Siru Kall pooja at 8.00 a.m., Kaala Santhi at 9.00 a.m., Utchikkala Pooja at 12.00 noon, Raja Alankaram at 5.30 p.m., Iraakkaala pooja at 8.00 p.m. The Golden Car can be viewed at 6.30 p.m.

We got a darshanam after we purchased prasadam. so literally it isn't possible to buy Palani Panchamrutham anywhere except in Palani temple's devasthanam (premises). As the name suggests its a mix of 5 major ingredients (banana, jaggery, cow ghee, honey and cardamom) along with few other things like dates, sugar etc.

After having spent some time in the temple we bought Panchamrutham, the prasadam of the temple. With a contented mind, we walked towards the winch station for our return journey from the hill. Some people were busy taking photos from the winch and others were enjoying the scenic beauty.

After we came down from the hill and got back to the car we took some rest and we had a breakfast near beautiful nature and we got back to home..

As you descend from the Palani Hills, your heart remains atop the sacred terrain, cherishing the divine experience. The majestic hills, adorned with lush green forests and sparkling waterfalls, have rejuvenated your senses. The revered Palani Murugan Temple, with its rich history and spiritual significance, has bestowed upon you a sense of tranquility and inner peace. The scenic views, gentle breeze, and warm hospitality have left an indelible mark on your soul. As you bid farewell to this enchanting hill station, carry with you the blessings of Lord Murugan and the memories of a serene getaway. The Palani Hills will forever remain a sacred haven, beckoning you to return and rediscover its beauty and divinity.
